Oregon Flock and Fiber is one week away and the Teeswater Ewes are filthy from growing their locks the past year in the pasture!
Lawrence Cottage's Letha Before
Lawrence Cottage's Letha After
Letha will go Oregon Flock and Fiber with her friends, Rosella & Lilly. Here Letha has been rinsed and her locks have been separated after many hours of grooming.
Letha did not leave the fitting stand gracefully! Oh no, she flipped into the mud and if that wasn't enough, she managed to christen both sides thoroughly!
Back to the fitting stand for Letha!!!
Letha air drying her locks Teeswater style!
Liquid flowing long locks!
Lawrence Cottage's Rosella learning to lead. A painful process for all involved!
Did I mention the ewes must learn to lead! Did I mention Teeswater's are flighty and strong minded powerful creatures? They are!!! This process takes several long days dawn to dark.
The ladies of Lawrence Cottage packed up their finest Teeswater sheep and went to Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival in Canby, Oregon.
Two Registered Teeswater ewes in longwool were present for the Yearling White Longwool class.
Lawrence Cottage's Rosella (82.25% Registered Teeswater) placed 2nd in her class and then Reserve Champion in the final white longwool class.

The Teeswater sheep are not mature until age three. Many of the other sheep breeds are mature as yearlings. It is difficult to compete against fast maturing animals. The ladies of Lawrence Cottage were pleased with their ewes and met many nice people. Many people had never seen such fanciful sheep with long flowing locks! The show was a great success.
